Antiochus Epiphanes may be a type of the beast but also more likely a type of the king of the north (Dan.11:40). Note vs.14, the sanctuary is cleansed after the revolt of Judas Maccabeus against Antiochus E.Result is the feast of Hanukkah.

Times of the Gentiles

After the death of Alexander, his empire was divided among his 4 generals. Most of this history is about the king of the south (Ptolomies) and the king of the north (Seleucids), a time span of about 200 yrs. Refer to Dan.2:31-45 and chart in Dan 9.

Probably the false prophet confirming the false covenant for 1 week and then breaking it by causing the sacrifice and oblation to cease, thus bringing in the abomination of desolation. This is the time for the faithful remnant of Israel to flee.

The Antichrist requires that all have the mark (name of the beast) on their right hand or forehead. No one could buy or sell unless they had this mark. This (man's number 666) is the number of the beast. See links below.

Kings of the south and north

King of the south and king of the north push at and come against the beast. King of the south is south of Israel, possibly Egypt and others. King of the north is probably Syria, Iran and other nations north of Israel.
