Translation, (Rapture) and Ascension

The catching up of both Enoch and Elijah provide a pattern for the resurrection, translation and catching up (Rapture) of the saints in the N.T. The key scripture however that puts it all together is 1 Thess.4:13-19.

The coming of our Lord Jesus and our gathering together to him. This is his coming for his saints. The Thessalonians,because of severe pressures were afraid they had missed his coming and that they were in the day of the Lord. Paul corrects this in ch.2.

Death Swallowed up in Victory

After 3 1/2 days the spirit of life came into the 2 witnesses. They stood on their feet. A great voice out of heaven said "come up here" and they went up to heaven in the cloud, and their enemies beheld them. See link in Gen 5:23,24 and Jn 14:1-3.

Note similar patterns in 1 Cor.15:51-58 where saints are resurrected and for the moment all believers are on the earth in that position, then 1 Thess4:17 they are caught up. that is private but with the 2 witnesses it is public.

It was given to her (the Lamb's wife) that she should be clothed in fine linen, bright and pure; for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints. See important footnote "e" in JND bible that it is actual not imputed righteousness. See links below.

As the day of Pentecost was now accomplishing, the Holy Spirit was poured out. Peter quotes Joel 2:28-32 which has a present application but also a future one related to the day of the Lord. Note,Lev.23 spring feasts were accomplished but not the fall.

The Holy Spirit
