The catching up of both Enoch and Elijah provide a pattern for the resurrection, translation and catching up (Rapture) of the saints in the N.T. The key scripture however that puts it all together is 1 Thess.4:13-19.

Resurrection here related to Israel. Consider the resurrection of the just (many instances of resurrection 1 Cor 15 "each in his own rank" etc.) but of the unjust (finalised in Rev. 20:12.) See key scripture in John 5:25-29.

Christ's Resurrection

Paul had to meet this error, early in the Church. Note 1 Cor. 15 sets out the living changed and the dead raised. For the twinkling of an eye, all are on the earth changed and alive, ready to be caught up, which is in 1Thess.4.
