Christ's Atoning Sufferings
Christ's atoning suffering for sin. Forsaken by God in the three hours of darkness. See references in Amos 8:9, also darkness in Isaiah 13:10 which looks more to the day of the Lord. Note Psalm 22:1, His cry: "My God my God why hast thou forsaken me?".
